Canadian Waterproofers Combine
In October, two of Canada’s leading waterproofing companies joined forces. Kelso Industrial Group announced that Revolutionary Concrete Solutions (RCS) is joining its team.
The move expands Kelso’s line of infrastructure services and products, while providing RCS with capacity and resources for large-scale projects.
The combined company will be headquartered in Milton, Ontario, and capitalize on Kelso’s 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse, office and training facilities. RCS president Ron Langdana will continue in his senior leadership role for the product line.
“We have seen strong demand for new technologies and solutions in waterproofing products by private and public builders in Canada because of changing weather patterns,” said Kathryn Wortsman Stein, CEO at Kelso. “Additionally, funding pressures require a significant increase of lifespan for concrete structures Bringing RCS into our portfolio… will enable to us to capitalize on this opportunity.”
The product is a crystalline slurry that when applied to concrete, seals hairline cracks and microscopic leaks.
Sika Wins Green Globes
Sika Sarnafil, a maker of thermoplastic roofing and waterproofing membranes, has earned a Green Globe award for its office and warehouse building in Canton, Mass.
“Green Globes assessment and certification of our building is an important step for Sika Sarnafil,” said Brian J. Whelan, Senior Vice President of Sika Sarnafil. “The assessment process allows the building owner to rate their building’s environmental performance and to learn how it can be improved.”
In the energy category, points were awarded for the two solar photovoltaic arrays located on the roof of the building that provide more than 10% of the building’s total energy consumption. The building scored 100 out of a possible 110 points evaluating waste reduction, site pollution, recycling, and site enhancement.
The overall score qualified it for the Two Green Globes rating, which indicates that the design “demonstrates excellent progress in the reduction of environmental impacts and use of environmental efficiency practices.”
The Green Globes rating system is operated by the Green Building Initiative (GBI) in the United States and provides environmental assessment and certification for commercial buildings.
